Six companies with headquarters in Michigan earned recognition on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list in 2026. Fortune builds these rankings through confidential surveys sent to workers. These surveys measure trust between staff and management, satisfaction with daily work, and how people feel about their workplace environment.
Plante Moran sits in Southfield. It ranked highest among Michigan firms at No. 15. Credit Acceptance, another Southfield company that provides financial services, landed at No. 18. Rocket Companies from Detroit secured No. 23, as shared by Patch.
Ally Financial Inc., based in Detroit, took No. 51. Stryker manufactures medical equipment in Portage and ranked No. 55. Dow, which operates out of Midland, finished at No. 73.
Synchrony topped the 2026 list. This Connecticut-based company works in financial services and insurance. Hilton came in second—a hospitality giant with headquarters in Virginia. More than 1.3 million workers across the country submitted feedback for this year's rankings.
Workers at Plante Moran gave high marks. They praised the company for building a place where people feel supported. Staff members described a warm setting filled with kind colleagues who will help without hesitation.
"I have finally found a place that supports continued learning and growth, and cares for their employees," one employee said. "PM is not just checking the box for goodwill, but they invest and go above and beyond in caring for their employees and clients."
Companies need at least 1,000 U.S. workers to qualify for Fortune's list. They must also receive certification from Great Place to Work. Fortune awards spots only to companies that receive high responses across 60 different survey statements.
The Michigan companies that earned recognition work in different industries. Professional services, financial services and insurance, real estate, manufacturing, and production all appear on the list.
