Macomb County launched a new slogan called "Macomb with Everybody." Profits from merchandise bearing this phrase will go to the county Animal Shelter.

Hackel and Deputy County Executive John Paul Rea showed up to the Detroit Policy Conference in January wearing hoodies emblazoned with the slogan when they took the stage. The phrase plays on the "Detroit vs. Everybody" saying.

"Everybody asked, 'How do I get one?'" said Hackel, according to Macomb Daily. "We're trying to figure that out right now."

The executive has directed the county to secure a federal trademark. His staff is now searching for a company to produce clothes and merchandise printed with the slogan. Any company awarded the contract must agree that all profits will benefit the county Animal Shelter.

"It dawned on me . . . that has been our success in Macomb County," Hackel said. "We've been willing to say, 'Macomb with everybody' — whether it's the educational partners, our chambers, business, the regional partners, the state of Michigan. We try to figure out, who wants to be part of the solution? And we try to engage them. So we flipped the script on that."

Three billboards now display the catchphrase alongside a photograph of the executive. One sits off Interstate 696 facing west on the north side between Groesbeck Highway and Gratiot Avenue. Two others are positioned off Interstate 94 south of M-59, with one next to the former Gibraltar Trade Center.
