The Detroit Lions launched their 2026 Touchdown in Your Town program on Monday. Applications are now open. This program gives equipment, tech tools, and money to Michigan high school football and cheer squads. You can apply until April 17 at 9 a.m.

Five football programs and five cheer programs will receive help. Coaches, athletic directors, and administrative staff from Michigan high schools can apply. They submit one football or cheer application at www.detroitlions.com/touchdown.

"Our Touchdown in Your Town program allows us to reach all corners of the state of Michigan in support of the wellbeing and development of our youth," said Roxanne Caine, vice president of Detroit Lions Foundation and Community Relations, according to ABC12.

A selection committee reviews each submission. Members come from the Lions organization and the corporate sponsors who participate. After they pick the winners, team representatives plan surprise school visits to announce the awards and share the new gear during a special presentation.

Touchdown in Your Town has poured more than $1 million into Michigan schools since 2019. The program added high school cheer squads three years ago.

This work is part of the franchise's $5 million pledge to youth sports across Michigan. The team wants to promote safe participation and spark passion for football while giving every Michigan high school program a fair shot at success.
