Cafe Au Lait will launch its second shop inside La Gelati at 22001 Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn on March 25. The Livonia-based coffee business is joining forces with the ice cream parlor for this downtown spot.
Co-owner Bashar Hallak told What Now Detroit the launch date is March 25. Construction should be finished soon.
Bashar and his brother Abbas launched their first shop in Livonia last August at 34782 Plymouth Road. They wanted French coffee in the area. Right now? No expansion plans exist, though Bashar hasn't ruled it out later.
"We will have some good unique drinks," Bashar said.
The menu spans coffees, breakfast sandwiches, and desserts. One standout? The smoked salmon bagel—toasted, then stacked with onion and chive cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, and capers.
Ice espressos, lattes, refreshers, and smoothies are crowd-pleasers at the original store. Their Instagram page bills the concept as "a taste of Paris – crafted with love."
La Gelati serves gelato, crepes, and drinks like smoothies at its West Dearborn shop. This partnership brings another choice for guests visiting the spot.
The address also houses Paradise Street Eats & Biryani, The Great Commoner, and Modern Greek and Salad bar. It sits across from Qahwah House downtown.
