Washtenaw County Conservation District kicked off orders for its 2026 Spring Plant Sales. More than 100 species await buyers, as per the Sun Times News. Trees, shrubs, and native plants fill the catalog—all meant for conservation work. People can order through the online store with a credit card or send a check by mail. The deadline hits March 23.
Two programs make up the sale. The Spring Tree & Shrub sale stocks bare-root seedlings—good for windbreaks, privacy screens, and timber projects, as per The Sun Times. The Spring Native Plant sale? It's packed with over 50 species. Wildflowers, grasses, sedges, trees, and shrubs all native to this region.
Oak species got a price cut this year, according to The Sun Times. Both sales feature them thanks to a special donation. The goal is getting more of these keystone species into the ground.
Fruit lovers can choose from apple, peach, pear, Asian pear, nectarine, raspberry, and wild blueberry. Native options for conservation include serviceberry, paper birch, winterberry, red and black oaks, hazelnut, plus various conifers, as shared by The Sun Times. Tree shelters, weed mats, and pest repellents are up for grabs too.
Spring Native Plant sale pre-orders start Feb. 23 and wrap up March 23, as per The Manchester Mirror. These native plants are perennials—they've adapted to local soils and weather patterns over thousands of years, supporting pollinators while preserving what scientists call biodiversity.
WCCD operates as a unit of local government. Five elected directors run the board. The mission? Helping residents with conservation, management, and smart use of what nature provides in Washtenaw County. These facts were reported by The Sun Times.
Over 7.5 million trees and shrubs have taken root because of this organization's distributions, according to The Sun Times. These plantings helped with reforestation, cut down on soil erosion, boosted water quality, brought back lost habitats, and supported naturalization projects across the county.
Spring Tree & Shrub orders can be picked up Friday, April 24, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor. Leftover trees and shrubs go on sale in person Saturday, April 25, starting at 10 a.m.—first-come, first-served, as per The Sun Times.
Spring Native Plant orders get picked up during the annual Native Plant Expo & Marketplace on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farm Council Grounds. The expo will also bring in other vendors and nurseries selling plants right there on site. These facts come from The Manchester Mirror.
Residents should shop and order soon. Many species will sell out before the deadline hits, as per The Sun Times. Hard-copy sale packets sit waiting at the WCCD office, 705 N. Zeeb Road, Suite 201, Ann Arbor.
