Mutiny Tiki Bar in southwest Detroit will shut its doors March 1, as per Detroit News. Nine years of business comes to an end. The owners broke the news Monday, explaining that sales can't keep the place afloat.

"Friends, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Mutiny Tiki Bar," the post said, according to Detroit News. "For nine incredible years, you've filled our space with laughter, music, celebration, and community."

The Polynesian-inspired spot sits at 4654 Vernor Highway near Clark Avenue. Owners say they can't make it work anymore under current circumstances.

"We are endlessly grateful for every visit, every toast, and every memory made under our roof," the post said.

The owners want people to stop in during these final days. Come say goodbye before the last shift wraps up. They're asking guests to swap stories and give the tiki-themed spot a proper sendoff.

"Please join us in the coming days to raise one last glass, share your favorite stories, and help us send Mutiny off in true tiki style," they said via social media. "Thank you for being part of our journey— it has meant more to us than words can express."

Tropical cocktails flowed throughout the bar's run. The space gained recognition for its Polynesian-inspired decorations and drink menu, drawing crowds who wanted something different from typical watering holes.

Monday attempts at contacting the owners yielded no response, according to The Detroit News.

Nearly ten years of serving southwest Detroit residents winds down. The announcement arrives as the venue enters its final fourteen days of operation.
