Wayne County Leads Michigan in Total Lottery Spending

Wayne County racked up $1.06 billion in lottery sales during 2025. That's more than any other county across Michigan. The Metro Detroit region accounted for over $2.17 billion of the $4.4 billion spent on lottery games throughout the state last year, as per MLive.

Montmorency County topped every other county in per capita spending with $9.11 million in sales per 10,000 residents—a staggering figure for a small population, as shared by MLive. This Northern Michigan county posted $8.95 million in total sales among just 9,828 residents.

Most counties ranking in the top 10 for per capita spending sat on the east side of the state, with many clustered in the northeastern Lower Peninsula. Now, let's share county data, according to MLive. 

Iosco County grabbed second place. Sales hit $6.8 million per 10,000 residents and $17.26 million overall. Roscommon County claimed third with $6.54 million per 10,000 residents and $15.65 million in total sales.

Macomb County pulled in the second-highest total sales statewide at $578.28 million, surpassing Oakland County despite having fewer residents. Oakland County recorded $529.7 million in total sales with a population of 1,296,888 compared to Macomb's 886,175 residents.

Macomb County ranked fourth in per capita spending at $6.52 million per 10,000 people. Wayne County landed in eighth with $6 million per 10,000 residents.

The statewide average? $4.33 million in sales per 10,000 residents. Oakland County dipped below that mark at $4.08 million per 10,000 people, ranking 30th among all counties.

Leelanau County posted the lowest per capita spending in the state at $1.54 million per 10,000 residents—less than half the statewide average. Baraga County came in second-lowest with $1.67 million per 10,000 people and $1.37 million in total sales among its 8,169 residents.

Pull Tab games generated the most revenue in Metro Detroit counties, bringing in $426.03 million in Wayne County, $299.26 million in Macomb County, and $267.49 million in Oakland County, as per MLive.

Daily 4 was the second-highest seller in Wayne County at $250.18 million. Club Keno ranked second in both Macomb County at $74.42 million and Oakland County at $49.09 million, as per MLive.
