Dozens of athletes with Michigan ties will compete for Team USA from Feb. 6-22 at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy. Hockey players, figure skaters, freestyle skiers, and winter sports competitors from across the state will head to the Games.

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin will suit up for the United States in hockey. He grew up in Waterford Township. His father, Kevin, coached him and his brother Colin at Lakeland Ice Arena when they were kids. Larkin played one season at the University of Michigan in 2014-15, then jumped straight to the Red Wings.

"I'm representing myself, my family, the state of Michigan (and) the Red Wings," Larkin said per MLive.

Six other players with Michigan connections made the men's hockey roster. Kyle Connor, Zack Werenski, and Connor Hellebuyck all hail from metro Detroit. Jack and Quinn Hughes both skated for the Wolverines. Seth Jones and Tage Thompson went to Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.

Freestyle skier Kaila Kuhn grew up in Boyne City. She first went down Boyne Mountain before she turned two. At 13, she left to train full-time for aerials, dedicating herself to the sport. Two-time Olympic ski racer Cary Adgate inspired her when she was young. He's also from Boyne.

Biathlete Deedra Irwin, 33, competed in alpine skiing at Michigan Technological University before entering her second Olympics. She spent five years as a student-athlete for the Huskies, racing through brutal winters and perfecting her craft on campus trails.

Figure skaters Madison Chock from Novi, Evan Bates from Northville, Christina Carreira from St. Clair, and Emilea Zingas from Grosse Pointe Farms will compete in ice dancing.

Women's hockey players Kirsten Simms from Plymouth and Megan Keller from Farmington Hills made the roster. Eastern Michigan University track and field alum Jasmine Jones will compete in bobsled.

International teams will feature Michigan talent as well. Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, both Red Wings players who attended the University of Michigan, will compete for Germany and Sweden.
