Oakland County Sheriff's Office handed out more than 1,000 bags packed with food on Jan. 21. Sheriff Michael Bouchard helped distribute them at Baldwin Center in Pontiac.

Brightmoor Christian Church of Novi donated the supplies. Bags went to people at Baldwin Center and several nearby groups, according to a press statement from the Sheriff's Office.

Hope Shelter got some, along with New Birth International Church, Grace Centers of Hope, New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, and First Congregational Church of Clarkston. Each place helps people who struggle to find enough to eat.

Some bags remained available for pickup at the Sheriff's Office Pontiac substation.
