Hamlin Pub To Open Downtown Detroit Location Before Tigers’ Home Opener

Hamlin Pub will swing open doors at its first downtown Detroit location on April 3. The sports bar sits at 313 Park near Grand Circus Park, where the Statler shut down last July. This location becomes the 11th outpost for the company and brings together Joe Vicari Restaurant Group with Hamlin Pub co-owner John DeAngelis.

"We're doing a complete remodel," Vicari said, according to The Detroit News. The doors will open by the Tigers' home opener, which is April 3.

The new pub keeps the same menu as other locations. Customers get pub grub, a full bar stocked with wine and cocktails, plus screens for watching games.

The first location popped up in 1992 at Hamlin and Rochester roads in Rochester Hills. Now 10 locations dot the suburbs, each serving as a hub for pub food, live acts, and sports viewing.

Menu picks include burgers and sliders, tacos, wings, sandwiches, pizza, soups, and salads. The bar pours cocktails like the Kentucky mule and Michigan Mary, which mixes Michigan vodka with McClure's bloody mary mix.

The French American bistro Statler closed last July for a makeover. Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, which operates several Andiamo Italian eateries, two Joe Muer Seafood locations, and other restaurants across Metro Detroit, is part of the ownership group.

The restaurant group will host an event to bring guests to the Tigers' Opening Day game and back to the new location, according to What Now Detroit.

Vicari's other two downtown eateries, Andiamo Riverfront and Joe Muer Seafood at the Renaissance Center, are getting ready for the North American International Auto Show, which opens to the public on Jan. 17.

A Clinton Township location opened this past fall at 42305 Garfield Road, marking another expansion since the company started three decades ago.
