Metro Detroit's ski slopes are up and running. All four facilities launched operations after early December brought frigid temperatures and snowfall.
Pine Knob Ski & Snowboard Resort sits at 7778 Sashabaw Rd. in Clarkston. Dec. 8 and 9 (Monday and Tuesday), it's open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday stretch until 10 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 13, skiers can hit the slopes from 10 a.m. straight through to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, kicks off at 9 a.m. and wraps at 10 p.m., while Sunday, Dec. 15 spans 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Alpine Valley at 6775 Highland Rd. in White Lake boasts the longest weekday stretch. The resort welcomes guests from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Sunday mirrors Saturday's start but shuts down an hour earlier at 9 p.m.
Mt. Brighton occupies 4141 Bauer Rd. in Brighton. From Monday, Dec. 9, through Thursday, Dec. 12, the mountain opens at 3 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, starts at 3 p.m. but extends to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, operates from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mt. Holly stands at 13536 Dixie Highway in Holly. Monday through Wednesday, expect 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. windows. Thursday and Friday times haven't been confirmed yet. Saturday opens at 9 a.m. and continues until 10 p.m., with Sunday matching the 9 a.m. start but finishing at 9 p.m.
Schedules can shift. Weather dictates what happens on the hills, so times might change as winter progresses.
Thousands of snowboarders and skiers across southeastern Michigan now have access to winter recreation. Each mountain draws visitors from surrounding counties and cities, marking another season on the slopes.
