Bat Out of Hell – The Musical hits the Fox Theatre for one night on Wednesday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets? They go on sale Friday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. through 313Presents.com and Ticketmaster.com.
Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf created the songs that power this show. Audiences will hear "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth," "Bat Out of Hell," "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)," "It's All Coming Back to Me," and "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad." There's also a new track nobody's heard before: "What Part of My Body Hurts the Most."
The plot? Lost boys and girls flee through tunnels beneath a city, escaping from ruler Falco. His teenage daughter Raven meets Strat, who leads the Lost. Their connection puts both families at risk.
This version comes straight from London's West End. It won the UK's Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and snagged eight London WhatsOnStage Awards nominations, including Best New Musical.
Critics gave it five stars, including The Independent. Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Manchester Evening News, and Metro also gave the show great reviews. The New York Times described it as "extravagant, absurd, compulsively hummable."
Where has it played? Manchester Opera House, London Coliseum, London's Dominion Theatre, Toronto's CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre, and New York City Center all hosted runs. The international tour traveled through the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand, with additional stops in Canada, Germany, and even a Las Vegas residency.
The original Bat Out Of Hell album moved over 68 million copies across the globe. Steinman waited 16 years before releasing Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, which gave us "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)."
Singers, dancers, and actors fill the stage with an eight-piece rock band backing them up. Jay Scheib directs. Jim Steinman wrote the book, music, and lyrics. Michael Cohl, Tony Smith, and David Sonenberg produce the Canadian and US dates.
