Next week, staff will put voting machines through their paces at the Pontiac courthouse. These tests make sure the equipment for early voting and mail-in ballot counting works right.
Testing takes place at 1200 N. Telegraph Road on two days. Workers will check mail-in ballot machines starting 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 14. They'll test early voting equipment at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, October 16.
The tests are designed to confirm that the voting machines used in the upcoming election are functioning accurately and securely. This testing marks just one step in making sure votes stay safe.
By opening these tests to everyone, officials show they have nothing to hide. Locals can watch first-hand as workers test vote counting methods. It's a chance to see election safeguards at work.
The board's training room will host both sessions. Visitors should enter through the west side of the courthouse to reach the testing area.
