Pontiac, Michigan launched a carbon monoxide detector program this week, putting free life-saving devices in local homes, according to Oakland County Times. Through the Grants Department, owners and tenants can now get these crucial safety tools.

Starting September 30, 2025, sign-ups opened at City Hall. Bring a photo ID from the government to claim your detector. Want to apply in person? Head to the Executive Office at City Hall (Floor 2). The Code team will install it without charge. The application is available online, as per Forms Office.

Got questions? Representatives at (248) 758-3119 have answers. They'll walk you through the process and schedule setup times if you want help with installation.

This push marks the next step in making homes safer across town. By getting these detectors to more people, Pontiac aims to stop a silent threat that puts families at risk.

To make sure local folks get first dibs, you'll need to show proof you live here. The city's keeping the program open-ended, with no cutoff date announced yet. A quick stop at City Hall with your ID could mean the difference between danger and peace of mind.
