A new $10 million indoor sports hub will soon take shape on Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights. This first-of-its-kind public facility in Macomb County will welcome players in mid-2026.

The site at 35630 Van Dyke Avenue sits north of 15 Mile Road in the MJR Marketplace Cinema lot. Players will find nine pickleball spots and six pro-grade ping pong tables inside, with open spaces for socializing between matches.

On Tuesday, September 30, a community feedback session was held at the Community Center. Staff took notes on what extras folks would like to see.

Thanks to the "Pathway to Play and Preservation" vote last November, this dream is becoming real. The building will include all the basics - restrooms, changing areas, a spot for nursing moms, and a quiet zone.

Good news for locals: casual games won't cost a thing. You'll only pay small fees for special events, team play, contests, or booking private time. As a city spot, it beats private club prices hands down.

Michigan's public indoor pickleball scene is tiny - this will be just the second city-run spot statewide. Officials are moving fast to buy the land and start building.

From kids to seniors, the center aims to bring everyone together. By mixing different activities under one roof, it should keep the whole family busy and active.
