The Jacksons will lead a grand opening bash at Detroit's new Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park this fall. Set for October 25-26, 2025, the event turns the 22-acre space into a music hub. Four stages will host acts while 30 food trucks serve up local flavors during the Detroit Harvest Fest.
"When Ralph Wilson Park opens next month, it will be a world-class gathering place for all," said Ryan Sullivan, CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, in a news release. "The park's design has been community-led since the beginning, and Detroiters of all ages have contributed ideas and inspiration that have come to life in this park," he added. His comments were shared by WXYZ.
The first day starts with a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting. Marlon and Jackie Jackson take the Summit Main Stage at 4 p.m., bringing their classic hits to life.
Each section of the park serves a purpose. The Delta Dental Play Garden boasts a 23-foot Bear Slide for thrill-seekers. Athletes can play in the William Davidson Sport House. The Huron-Clinton Metroparks Water Garden offers quiet spots to unwind.
Local talent fills the weekend schedule. Ballet Folklorico Detroit and COMPÁS bring their moves to the Michigan Lottery Southwest Stage. Larry Lee's Back in the Day Band joins the Detroit House Collective at the Soaring Eagle 8th Street Stage.
A cozy coffee house spot hosts Michigan Lion Dance and Sean Blackman. Cafecito Alvarez brews fresh drinks during shows.
Hungry guests can choose from street tacos, smoked meats, falafel, and fresh fish. El Rey de las Arepas serves Venezuelan bites, Big Bo's grills up classics, and the Lobster Food Truck dishes out seafood.
Kids rule the day from 11 to 4. Free pumpkins may be chosen by young guests aged 12 and under. A candy trail and hands-on science fill the Mort Harris Outdoor Classroom with fun.
When darkness falls, the Park After Dark Glow Party lights up from 6 to 8. Basketball games heat up the Sport House Saturday, while Sunday brings dance steps to learn. A quiet space welcomes those who need breaks from 11 to 4 daily.
Find this new city spot at 1801 W. Jefferson Avenue by the Ambassador Bridge. Saturday runs 10 to 8, Sunday 11 to 8. This space, eight years in the making, broke ground in spring 2022.
