A sweet aroma fills the air at 119 Garfield St., where 313 Cinnamon Rolls has made its home in Detroit's Midtown district. The city's first plant-based roll shop sits in Suite 200 of The Freelon at Sugar Hill building.
Owner Brandy Jackson turned her craving into a business after switching to plant-based eating. "I started 313 Cinnamon Rolls because I really missed a sweet treat when I started my vegan lifestyle journey," Jackson said per the Michigan Chronicle.
Each morning brings twelve fresh flavors to choose from, picked from a list of thirty options. Not a trace of animal products makes it into these treats, meeting the needs of Detroit's plant-based food fans.
The name "Cinntique" sprang from mixing roll shop with boutique style. "Midtown is just a vibe! I've always had my eye on Midtown for a location for the Cinntique," she said.
The space serves more than sweets: it builds bonds. Monthly gatherings called Cinny B's Marketplace welcome four small sellers. Weekend afternoons bring plant-based food makers to share their creations.
"I have this beautiful space and I want to share it," Jackson said. "Paying it forward is top tier to me. There have been many times in my journey that someone gave me a platform, and I want to do the same for others."
Doors are open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays, with shorter hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Free spots await in the ground-level parking area. Find the shop facing John R Street, right across from the VA Hospital entrance.
