In a former firehouse from 1910, Ladder 4 Wine Bar snagged the coveted Resy One to Watch Award. The 50 Best picked this Detroit restaurant as the next big thing in North American dining.

"By weaving together locally inspired flavors, innovative techniques and a deeply personal approach, it has established itself as one of the most exciting restaurants in North America today," said William Drew, director of content for North America's 50 Best Restaurants, according to the Detroit Free Press.

At the helm stands head chef John Yelinek. He works with the Cadariu brothers, James and Patrick, while Preston Smith runs the front of house. Since opening in 2022, they've turned this old fire station into a buzzing food destination.

"It is rare for us and our peers in Detroit to be recognized on a stage like this, but what makes this award so meaningful is that the entire city of Detroit feels like 'One To Watch,'" Yelinek said per Patch.

Fresh herbs and vegetables from their garden shape the ever-changing menu. The 50 Best praised how Yelinek mixes old-school cooking with modern flair - think grandma's recipes meets fine dining finesse.

Success keeps finding its way to Ladder 4. Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers crowned it Restaurant of the Year in 2023. Big names like James Beard Foundation, Bon Appetit, and The New York Times have taken notice too.

Small family wineries fill their drink list. You'll find unique bottles made from Eastern European and Old World grapes, with natural wines taking center stage.

Mark your calendars for September 25, 2025 - that's when Las Vegas hosts the award show. Can't make it? Watch live on The 50 Best's YouTube channel.

You can find Ladder 4 Wine Bar at 3396 Vinewood Street. Doors open Wednesday through Thursday 5-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5-11 p.m., and Sundays noon-10 p.m.
