On September 13, 2025, Woodhaven High School will host the 15th Victory Day. This special event lets students with disabilities step onto the field to play football and cheer alongside varsity athletes.

Each young participant teams up with a high school mentor. They'll suit up in Victory Day uniforms or wave pom-poms during game activities. Short runs, touchdown celebrations, and sideline cheers will fill the morning.

The field comes alive with 80 football players, 35 cheerleaders, and 50 band members. Students stream in from Allen Park, Flat Rock, Gibraltar Carlson, Wyandotte Roosevelt, and six other nearby schools to join the festivities.

The story starts with Aaron Segedi. After beating cancer three times and getting a new liver, this Trenton teacher wanted to make a difference. His sister's gift of life and the town's support sparked an idea that would touch many lives.

Trenton High School hosted the first decade of games. When COVID-19 hit in 2020, everything stopped. The next year, Riverview Gabriel Richard Catholic High School picked up the torch. Now, Woodhaven marks its fourth straight year as home field.

What started in Michigan now lights up fields across America. Kids run plays and cheer in Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Florida, and Maryland. Universities have caught on too, bringing the magic to their stadiums.

As the final whistle blows, each player takes home a special mini-helmet. The action runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Woodhaven High School, 24787 Van Horn Road in Brownstown.
